Comparing Corolla Trim Levels

2020 Corolla

The 2020 iteration of the Toyota Corolla continues to prove why it is the best-selling automobile of all time and the best-selling compact car in the United States. On average, drivers chose to drive off lots with a new Corolla almost 1,000 times each day. Though this year Toyota has increased the trim choices of the Corolla bumping up its traditional offering of four (the L, LE, Hybird LE and SE) to six (to include the XLE and the XSE).

The bells and whistles of the new Corollas feature reworked fascias with new head and tail lamps, along with new wheels for every model aside from the L and LE. The interior has also been tweaked to provide more personalized touches for both driver and passenger. The two sport trim levels, the SE and XSE carry on the lineage of the S with sportier, zippier designs.

The differences of each trim are highlighted below.

Corolla L

All the standard features that have made the Corolla so dependable are still present in the L. A redesigned front fascia updates the car this year, while the standard LED Daytime Running Lights still shine brilliantly whether in day or night using less energy. The standard Toyota Safety Sense (TSS-P) also makes an appearance with a Pre-Collision System, Pedestrian Detection, and Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist to keep drivers and passengers safe. Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port, power windows, and eight airbag system round out the standout features.

Corolla LE

The LE features the same exterior update with LED Daytime Running Lights along with rear combination taillights. The car rolls along on 16-inch wide-vent steel wheels and roars to life with a 1.8L 4-Cylinder engine. Slight tweaks and some extra amenities are evident in the interior in the 8-inch touch screen display with Siri Eyes Free, and integrated backup camera with a projected path, automatic climate control throughout the vehicle, more premium fabric seating, and remote keyless entry.

Corolla Hybird LE

The Hybird LE packs eco-friendly details into the Corolla’s bold exterior, accented by a piano black front grille. Instead of the 16-inch wheels of the L and LE, the Hyrbird LE rides on 15-inch styled steel wheels. While the car’s 1.8L 4-Cylinder engine includes valvematic technology that maintains an EPA-estimated 52 miles to the gallon on highways and 53 miles to the gallon in city traffic.

Corolla XLE

The new XLE model incorporates LED accent lights, bumper integrated LED daytime running lights, and multi-LED headlights to shine through any environment. A power tilt/slide moonroof with a sliding sunshade opens the car up in optimal weather, while a smart key system on the front and trunk doors allow for a push button start. Entune Audio Plus adds a more luxury touch to the interior and includes a connected navigation app. The front seats have integrated heating for comfort in cold weather.

Corolla SE

The Corolla SE is offers a 2.0L 4-Cylinder automatic transmission. To accommodate the front fascia has been updated with a sportier glossy black mesh pattern grille. The wheels offer a more luxurious touch with 18-inch machine alloys with painted black accents. A chrome-tipped exhaust matches the upmarket look. Inside the plush interior includes a leather-trimmed steering wheel with audio and phone controls.

Corolla XSE

The XSE is the Corolla’s most top of the line model, with multi-LED headlights and LED accent lights, bumper-integrated LED daytime running lights, and rear combination taillights with LED backup lights to add to the sporty exterior.
